News to distribute and share with your groups and classes
Please share these updates with your support group.

Thank you to those that attended and spoke in support of NAMI NH and mental illness at the public House Finance Committee meetings.

Upcoming Events-
April 18- 2007 Walk Introduction Meeting, 5:00 at the NAMI NH office- anyone interested in working on the walk for 2007 please rsvp to Acarbonneau@naminh.org
May 9- NAMI NH Leadership Award Dinner- Capitol Center for the Arts (more info to come)
May 19- Affiliate Leader/Teacher Semi-Annual Meeting

NAMI NH teachers, Affiliate Leaders and interested Affiliate members are invited.
“Show and Tell” will be the main feature of this meeting. Teachers and Leaders are encouraged to bring their ideas and questions to share with the group.
June 14- Annual Awards Dinner- Bedford Village Inn, Bedford NH

NH’s Children’s Mental Health Focus Groups.
NAMI NH in partnership with the Endowment for Health will host these focus groups for parents/caregivers of children or adolescents(up to 21yrs)who are currently receiving mental health services. Participants will be asked to provide feedback on their experiences. The Endowment has identified Children’s Mental Health as a priority, and are seeking family input to determine how to leverage for the greatest change.
Pre-registration is required. $25.00 stipend will be given to each family. Contact Claudia at cferber@naminh.org or 225-5359.

January and February Educational Topics
Peterborough- Gary Barnes, director of MAPS provided information on Monadnock Area Pastoral counseling and Lorraine Bellows spoke on Supported Employment.
Berlin- Charlie Cotton, director of the local mental health center gave an overview of the mental health system and its services and Matt Buteau gave an overview on Conditional discharges, Emergency Involuntary Admissions and voluntary admissions.
Manchester Adult- Dick Cohen from the Disabilities Rights Center and Dr. Yadati “Ask the Doctor”
Rochester Parent- Marriah Vacca spoke on improving communication between parents and adolescents.
Concord Adult- Dr. James Sager spoke on naturopathic treatment of mental illness.
Seacoast- Christoper Randy spoke on Social Security benefits
Littleton- Anniversary Dinner and Dr. VanLeuvan spoke on medications
Nashua Adult- Judge James Leary spoke on “Community Connections”, Nashua’s diversion program for people dealing with mental health issues and the criminal justice system and Leslie Buchanan & Rebecca Sartor, SNHMC Behavioial Health Dept. spoke on Dual Diagnosis and Local Services.

Whats New?
Children’s Guide Book- the new NAMI NH Children’s Guide book is now available, go to www.naminh.org for more information.

Again…
Support groups now have their own pages on the NAMI NH website. The NAMI NH office will post information, announcements, events or anything your group wants on your group’s very own page. But to make this work you need to forward your “news” to monica at mdenham@naminh.org! Once your page is set up you can just email the link that will take folks directly to your groups page!
Only 4 groups have submitted meeting information to be posted on the web. This is a great opportunity to market your group!
Please email the entire page of group information, it can be one line of a full page. Each time you need to make a change, just change it in your original document, date it and send to Monica. View the existing pages to get ideas for your group’s page.
