Affiliate News-

The Fall Affiliate/Teacher meeting was held on September 9th. Members of the NAMI NH board joined the meeting to hear from volunteers and to present the draft form of the Strategic Planning for NAMI NH. Meeting minutes will be available on the NAMI NH website. Go to “news” then to “Affiliate News” to view minutes after Sept.22. If you were not able to attend and are interested in learning more about the strategic plan, please contact Annette

Items of interest from the meeting-

Nashua brought up the need to have a website for their group and hoped NAMI NH could assist with that. (NAMI NH is looking into this area)

Nashua also spoke about the need for Siblings support groups for young people ages 14-24. Because of NAMI NH liability issues their plans to provide this support for this age group was unable to happen. ( there will be continued discussion on this subject to brainstorm on ways to provide support for young siblings)

Manchester will be holding its annual meeting on September 28 which will include an IOOV presentation. They have been successful printing posters with tear sheet slots. Tear sheet pads are then printed with a list of the groups programs and interested parties can just tear off a sheet to refer to.

Diane Cyr is now facilitating a Bipolar Group and a Schizophrenia group in the Seacoast, for more information contact her at dcyr@smhc-nh.org or 427-1480.

Seacoast offered the WRAP program this year (wellness recovery action plan). With the conclusion of the program they have good input for other affiliates that may be interested in doing the same. For more information contact Don Moore at donmoore@eml.cc or 436-3264.

Because of the need to educate our representatives on issues surrounding mental illness, NAMI NH will be hosting a presentation and luncheon for legislators in early Feb. The goal is to form a mental health caucus. Details will be shared with affiliates as they become available.

F2F-

Pat Ciccolo, Kathy Canedy and Geri Foucher are planning for a class to start September 18 in Bedford.

Contact information for all these teachers is located on the NAMI NH website at www.naminh.org, or call the NAMI NH office for more info at 225-5359

Annette will be attending a F2F Leadership weekend offered by NAMI National, the first weekend of December. F2F coordinators from all the states will come together for this training and networking. If you have questions, concerns or suggestions in relationship to F2F please forward them to me so that I can bring them to this meeting.
