Survivors of Suicide Lifekeeper Memory Quilt Project
The NH Survivors of Suicide (SOS) group has launched a Lifekeeper Memory Quilt project to bring New Hampshire survivors together for support, to place a face on suicide, and to raise public awareness of suicide. The Lifekeeper Memory Quilt project began in 1997 and was the brainchild of Sandy Martin, a survivor, who felt that creating a quilt with visual images, or pictures, of those who have been lost to suicide in each state would help raise awareness of suicide as a public health issue. The quilts are displayed every September in Washington, DC at the National Suicide Awareness Event sponsored by the Suicide Prevention Action Network (SPAN) and on a local level throughout the year.
