Recognize, Connect! Frameworks Suicide Prevention Project
Project Goal #2
Strengthen the ability of community coalitions to recognize youth who are at risk for suicide and provide an integrated culturally competent response in connecting them to appropriate resources.
Goal 2 Activities focus on community implementation of the Frameworks model in the selected Frameworks Communities. The implementation includes training in the Frameworks protocols (guidelines) for prevention, intervention and postvention response to youth suicide. Activities include:
- Provide technical assistance to assess community readiness/strengthen coalition
- Identify and train trainers in Frameworks Model
- Trainers will train colleagues and community participants
- Promote collaboration among services providers and community members
- Coalition will identify and address community risk and protective factors
- Evaluate effectiveness of community implementation
Community Integrated Model
- Project implementation and training occurs through existing community coalitions
- Use of protocols ensures consistent resopnse and builds trust in community
- Involves service providers and gatekeepers (including youth, parents, survivors)
- Encourages participants to identify and work on community risk and protective factors
- Emphasis on recognizing risk factors and warning signs offers opportunity for early detection and intervention with other problems such as substane abuse, mental illness, delinquency, domestic violence, harassment, etc.
- Encourages collaboration with other prevention activities
