NAMI NH ANNOUNCES RECENT IN OUR OWN VOICE GRADUATES
September 2008

NAMI NH's In Our Own Voice Program recently held a two day training in Bow, New Hampshire for new presenters.
Deborah Karr, In Our Own Voice Coordinator and State Trainer for NAMI NH and Lisa Halpern, NAMI National Trainer, conducted the training.
The recent graduates are: CABRINNI KULISH, DAVID SAWYER, LISA HAWKINS, LISA MERCADO, LORI DEMARCO, MICHELE CLOCK, RENNY WIDREW, PATTI DICKEY, SARAH JOHNSTON, ALLISON ESCHER, KATHLEEN POWERS AND MIKE SKINNER.
The two day intensive training prepares those living in recovery from mental illness to tell their story of Dark Days, Acceptance, Treatment, Coping Skills and Successes and Hopes and Dreams.
In Our Own Voice is an opportunity for those who have struggled with mental illness to gain confidence and to share their individual experiences of recovery and transformation. Throughout the IOOV presentation, audience members are encouraged to offer feedback and ask questions. Audience participation is and important aspect of IOOV because the more audience members become involved, the closer they come to understanding what it is like to live with a mental illness and stay in recovery. 85% of people who come to an IOOV presentation leave with more positive attitudes about recovery and stigma.
In Our Own Voice presentations are free of charge and are given across the state to colleges, health care centers, civic organizations, businesses, state agencies, faith communities and other venues.
Please contact Deborah Karr at 225-5359 or dkarr@naminh.org if your group or organization is interested in a presentation or if you are interested in becoming a presenter.
