NAMI NH Walk Kick-Off Events!
NAMI NH's Kick-Off Breakfast and Dinner for the 6th Annual Walk for Recovery from Mental Illness on August 13, 2008 was a huge success!
Special Guest, Nick Toumpas, Commissioner of the NH Dept. of Heatlh & Human Services gave an wonderful speech about his commitment and dedication to mental health issues facing the state of New Hampshire and his support for NAMI NH and their efforts to improve the quality of life for those affected by mental illness.
Mike Hill, President/CEO of NH Hospital Association and recipient of the 2008 Samuel Adams Leadership Award served as this year's Honorary Walk Chair. Mike's personal experience with suicide has made him a key proponent in the fight against stigma surrounding mental illness!
Peggy Straw, Founder of NAMI NH, gave an awe inspiring speech detailing how individuals can make a difference. Through her tireless, grassroot efforts NAMI NH was created. Here, Peggy chats with Annette Carbonneau and Rebecca Ladd. Rebecca Ladd, a NAMI NH Life Interrupted speaker, also spoke at the Kick-Off Dinner, offering a riveting account of how mental illness has affected her family.
