The National Alliance on Mental Illness New Hampshire in partnership with the Endowment for Health is hosting NH’s Children’s Mental Health Focus Groups for parents or primary caregivers of children and youth (ages birth through 21 years) who are currently receiving mental health services (public or private).  The thoughts, attitudes, and observations of those who are using the children’s mental health system are important and will be used by the Endowment for Health, a statewide health foundation, to improve the mental health care delivery system.  The Endowment for Health has identified a new priority area - Improving the Mental Health of NH’s Children and Their Families.  Your feedback will be used to identify gaps in services, opportunities for improvement, and to make strategic decisions that leverage the greatest change.
The focus groups are for ADULTS  ONLY and there will be a $25.00 stipend provided to each family of a child(ren) or adolescent(s) under the age of 21 who is currently in the mental health system (public or private) who participates in the focus group.  The focus group will be facilitated by the National Alliance on Mental Illness NH (NAMI NH).  The focus groups will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. and end at 8:00 p.m.

Pete Earley is an award winning investigative reporter whose previous books were about spies, prisons and the witness protection program. Mr. Earley will share about his struggles to get his college age son help after he is diagnosed with a mental illness. The second is about his investigation of America's mental health system based on nine months that he spent inside the psychiatric cellblocks at the Miami Dade County City Jail where he followed prisoners with mental illnesses through the justice system and back into the community to observe how they were treated.
