Take Action - Please Volunteer
Welcome to the new NAMI NH Volunteer Opportunities page. As a grassroots organization, NAMI NH’s members are the people that facilitate change and make the world a better place for people with mental illness and their families.
The timing for securing funding for these projects falls into alignment with the goals of the new NAMI NH Strategic Plan. These projects will increase NAMI NH’s visibility, actively engage more people, allow NAMI NH members to be more proactive and effective in influencing public policy, and maximize the impact of our educational program, Family to Family.
Please take a few minutes to review the information and respond with how you can help.
- Family to Family Teachers
For those of you that have taken a Family to Family class, you know the positive impact it can have on both the family and the person with mental illness. F2F is taught by NAMI NH volunteers who themselves have a loved one with a mental illness. The power of the program is families helping families. A F2F teacher training is held each year in the fall. Teachers are asked to make a commitment to teach a minimum of two (2) classes within two years. Those interested in becoming a teacher should contact Annette Carbonneau at Acarbonneau@naminh.org or 225-5359 x25 for an application.
- Statewide Legislative Forums
The most effective way to educate legislators is through their own local constituents - YOU. Through these forums we can educate our legislators on the need for continued accessibility to adequate mental health services and establish local NAMI NH contacts as resourcesfor families around mental health issues. Each year NAMI NH holds a training to help volunteers learn how to facilitate a local legislative forum. If you are interested in attending the next training or learning more please contact Annette Carbonneau at Acarbonneau@naminh.org or 225-5359 x25
